Shawn
Shawn C. Bush Jr. is a U.S. diplomat and alumnus of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Virginia, where he was a youth leader and captain of Flava Unit Step Team. Since leaving the Club, Shawn has pursued a successful career in politics and international affairs, which has taken him to Chile, Greece, Belgium, Bahrain, and many other places around the world.
After receiving his bachelor's degree from Howard University in Washington, DC, Shawn served as an aide to Senate Democratic Leader Charles Schumer before joining the U.S. Department of State. He holds a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University and speaks Spanish, Greek, and Arabic.
India
Since leaving the Club, India went to Howard University, one of the nation's most prominent Historically Black Colleges and University (HBCU). She successfully completed an accelerated program at Howard that allowed her to get her undergraduate degree in two years instead of four, and enter Howard's Medical school. In 2020, she became a doctor at 23 years old and is currently in a Plastic Surgery Residency. India and her younger brother grew up in the Club, and formed life-long relationships and family throughout the years. The Club is a second home and she is forever indebted to it for the mentors, support, structure, fun, and memories it gave her.
Sierra
Since her days at the Boys & Girls Club, Sierra graduated from Landstown High School in 2013. Afterward, she attended East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina where she obtained a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology. Understanding the power of knowledge to open doors so often closed to many of us, she continued to pursue her education at Florida International College of Law in Miami, Florida, where she obtained her Juris Doctorate degree in 2021. In that same year, she passed the Texas Bar Exam and is currently a practicing attorney in Houston, Texas. Sierra’s passion is that of service to others and she continues to seek ways in making a difference in the lives of others and an impact in our communities.
