WHY BGCSEVA?
Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Virginia is changing the future for children.
In our communities, an increasing number of children are home with no adult care or supervision. These boys and girls find their own recreation and companionship in the streets, which doesn’t always result in a positive outcome. At Boys & Girls Clubs, we provide a safe place to learn and grow while having fun. Our programs and services enhance children's confidence, creativity, purpose, and social skills.
The best way to predict the future is to create it. Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Virginia is creating a new and brighter future for thousands of young people. BGCSEVA is a comprehensive youth service organization operating in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Suffolk, Franklin, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, and on the Eastern Shore. We help young people in grades K- 12 reach their full potential through youth development programs that emphasizes career and academic preparedness, healthy lifestyles, and good character and citizenship. We have nine Clubs throughout our service area and are open each weekday after school from 3pm – 8pm and for extended hours during the summer. Membership is open to all young people ages 6 through 18.
Great futures begin here each and every day.

OUR THREE PRIORITY OUTCOMES
Academic Success
At Boys & Girls Clubs, one of our top priorities is ensuring all youth have the tools and support to be successful both in life and at school. Afterschool academic support helps kids stay on track throughout the school year, while fun and engaging summer programming combats summer learning loss in areas like math and reading.
Good Character & Citizenship
These programs help youth become responsible, caring citizens and acquire skills to participate in the democratic process. Program participants also develop leadership skills and gain opportunities for planning, decision-making, contributing to Club and community and celebrating our national heritage.
Healthy Lifestyles
Designed to incorporate healthy living and active learning in every part of the Club Experience, Healthy Habits emphasizes good nutrition, regular physical activity and improving overall well-being. The program, for ages 6 to 15, is the Mind component of Triple Play: A Game Plan for the Mind, Body and Soul.
PROGRAMS
Boys & Girls Club programs are designed to help children and teens achieve our three priority outcomes of Academic Success, Good Character & Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles. These programs are written into user-friendly curriculum that is enhanced by volunteer insights and expertise. Look to see some of the various programs we offer at our Boys & Girl Clubs.

Caleb Jones
Boys & Girls Club had a big impact on me. My Club experience started when I was just eight years old. As my time at the Club went on, my life improved positively in all aspects. My social life improved, I made many friends, and I was introduced to my favorite sport, football.
Without my Club, I don’t know what kind of person I would be or where I would have ended up. Spending all those hours at the Club helped me stay on the right path and surrounded me with amazing role models, who wished nothing but the best for me. As a result of all the academic help I received starting in elementary school, I was able to thrive academically in high school. While excelling academically, I thrived on the football field as well, due to all the lessons and positive influences the Club instilled in me. While attending Oscar Smith High School, I earned All-Region, All-Tidewater and All-State honors three times. I was also selected as Conference Defensive Player of the Year. I finished my senior season with 88 tackles, 47 tackles for loss, and 13 sacks while helping lead Oscar Smith to back-to-back Class 6A State Championships.
After graduating with a 3.9 GPA, I went on to receive a scholarship to play Defensive Line at North Carolina A & T., where I majored in Applied Psychology. Currently, I am continuing my football career at Boston College. I would like to thank the Club and all the staff who pushed me to be the best version of myself. I could not be the man I am today without the Club!
